QOMPLX CEO and co-founder, Jason Crabtree, recently did an interview with Raconteur about his early life, the pathway that led through the U.S. military to his role as CEO and co-founder of QOMPLX, and what QOMPLX aims to accomplish. How do you go from growing up on a cattle ranch to West Point, DARPA and then founding a cybersecurity start-up? The folks over at Raconteur tell the story in their profile of QOMPLX CEO Jason Crabtree.
Jason talks about his journey growing up on a cattle ranch near Seattle to study at West Point and at Oxford University. Along the way, he met Andrew Sellers, who later became QOMPLX’s co-founder and CTO.
Along the way, Crabtree and Sellers bonded over their passion for solving complex, data-driven problems and their conviction that such problems would come to define what the late physicist Stephen Hawking called the "century of complexity."
Frustrated by the slow pace of change within a rigid military structure, the two struck out on their own to design a tool that would allow them to create, as Raconteur states, “a common source for data and a common source for truth.”
“QOMPLX’s goal is to give people a clear understanding of the practical problem scenarios they face in the world and offer products that help address those risks, in a way that doesn’t overcomplicate or obfuscate them,” Crabtree says.
QOMPLX has grown steadily since. The company was named one of the 25 start-ups that raised the most money in 2019 by Forbes. Crabtree was named to the Washington Business Journal’s 40 under 40 list for 2020.
